FLIGHT ANIMAL
What Horses Teach Us About Stress, Safety & the Nervous System
A small-group experiential workshop with Dr. Amy Nelson, ND
Horses are flight animals. Their survival depends upon their extraordinary ability to recognize subtle changes in their environment and to respond when something doesn't feel safe.
Humans have many of the same physiological survival responses.
Join Dr. Amy Nelson for an afternoon exploring the human stress response through the unique lens of the horse!
YOU'LL EXPLORE
The physiology of stress
Understand what happens in the body during activation, vigilance and recovery.
Recognizing your nervous system
Learn to notice subtle changes in breathing, muscle tension, attention and body awareness.
Pressure & release
Experience how horses respond to pressure, boundaries and clear communication.
Safety & trust
Explore the difference between control, connection and genuine safety.
Returning to neutral
Watch how horses move between activation and regulation—and explore what they can teach us about doing the same.
No riding experience is necessary. Activities are ground-based and designed around observation and interaction with the horses.
